Point 65 Degrees North Sweden Kayaks is set to make a big splash in the US market in 2012. With their full lineup set to debut at Outdoor Retailer 2011 the first week of August, and terms that are going to make dealers start dancing in the streets, it’s no wonder they are the best selling kayaks in Europe. Their secret is nothing monumental, but the way Point 65 constantly innovates and brings new minds to the table is what equals a recipe for success.

With names behind their designs like Nigel Foster (iconic sea kayaker and first sea kayaker to be inducted into the (IKHOF) International Kayaking Hall of Fame,) along with world, renowned engineer, Magnus de Brito (Head Designer for Pirelli, Porsche, Intelligent Sound) the possibilities for amazing new innovations in paddlesports are endless.

Point has just released their 2012 Workbook and here is a preview of the new lineup. Reviews will be on their way right after I paddle some boats at OR this week, so stay tuned.

Some of the boats have not changed, but the new XO 11′ and 13′ PE boats are brand new, as well as additions of three new modular boats, which will round out their highly successful Martini and Tequila, that made their debut in the US this past season.

Two of their new modular boats, the Apollo and Gemini, are slightly stripped down versions of the Martini and Tequila, but are lighter weight, and have scaled down dimensions so shipping these boats is possible through UPS. You lose a couple of features, such as bulkheads with these models, but the price tag has dropped about $100 as well.

The new modular Mercury 14′ solo, which converts to a 17″ tandem is going to be huge next season. People who once thought that owning a 14′ kayak was impossible because of weight, or storage issues have found their savior in this boat. That’s all for now, but their will be more to come in the coming weeks. Enjoy the preview, and just click on the images to see larger picture of Point’s new lineup.
